It is my belief that every child (and adults), at some point in their life, dreams of laying on a beach on Paradise Island, Bahamas. The alluring gorgeous aqua waters and the image of warm sun on your skin could make both the young and old have a desire to visit these gorgeous islands. Although the commercials will have you believe Atlantis is the only way to see these beaches and enjoy the sites, I am here to tell you that there are so many affordable ways to see this tropical destination without giving up every last penny! Join me on this journey of the Bahama Islands...

The Bahama Islands are just newly independent from Great Britain. With this, the islands have to sustain themselves through Hurricane seasons and long summers with little tourism spikes. Shopping, dining, and staying local can not only be the best investment for the local economy, but could end up being the most enjoyable parts of your trip! below I'll recommend some restaurants and local hotels that brought some radical memories for the long run.

Island Dining

While Atlantis might take up a good portion of the Island, they do not offer the best food and dining for family settings, at affordable pricing. My family of 5 ate breakfast at Poseidon's Table, and ended up spending a small fortune, just for breakfast! Not only that, but the breakfast options were buffet style. While the breakfast items offered where numerous and some specialties, you do not travel and pay to be at Atlantis just to open of a box of Frosted Flakes. Below I will give you some options that give you the local cultural perspective while keeping you on a budget!

Violas Bar & Grill

Located close to the shore, and in relation to the Sunrise Beach Club hotel, this restaurant provides a delicious home cooked breakfast with delightful ocean breezes. Covered but exposed to the elements, there no chance of missing out on every ray of Bahama Sun! Only a 5 minute walk to the beach provides the opportunity to come right back for lunch or dinner!

In the afternoons there is usually music or karaoke which is fun for the whole family! Dine on a budget here, but indulge in appetizing apps and drinks all night long! The staff is wonderful and will remember you if you come back! They have some unique drinks, but carry all the favorites like Pina Colada's and Daiquiri's, and for Cheap!

An absolute hidden gem in a tropical paradise! Be on the look out for their specials as well! Grab the deals while you can, and make sure to tip your server good (they dont normally do this in the Bahamas but it'll be sure to get you even more excellent service next time around!)

Le Petit Gourmet

This Hidden Gem is located on the mainland of Nassau, off of Paradise Island. I do recommend finding a good taxi driver to take you here, and even pay them a bit extra to wait for you. While Nassau is not unsafe, this area is know for nightly break ins, so take an extra precaution to familiarize yourself with the surroundings, especially as a tourist.

When do you find a safe way to venture to this local café, it will be worth the journey. The staff here are incredibly gentle, kind souls and made the whole experience fantastic! They offered us many accommodation's and kept our coffees full. The price of this breakfast was less than half of 1 meal on Paradise Island. Delicious options like the French toast pictured above, omelets, grits and shrimp, etc.

If you don't feel like a full sit down breakfast, this charming boutique also offers hand made pastries made from scratch; cinnamon buns, muffins, bagels, etc. They also offer a wide arrange of teas and coffees, flavored and iced. They offer fresh fruit to go, or with your meal... and all at very affordable prices! Worth every penny and every minute spent getting here. Highly recommend.

The Pointe

Here is one restaurant that IS inside of Atlantis. But it is accessible by non-Atlantis guests. I am recommending it because my whole family ate here at least 4 times in our 5 day 'vacation'! Absolute killer views, both serving up breakfast munchies and rich dinner time plates. Don't be deturbed by the location of this place, it is anything but over rated.

They have karaoke, bands and musicians, special nights and regular specialties throughout the week. Their menu offers vegetarian options as well as local favorites, especially when it comes to seafood. Pricing pay for both the mouthwatering flavors of the food, and the to-die-for views.

Set right on the cape of Atlantis between the mainland and the tip of Paradise Island, you can get the best of the sunrise and sunset. If you hit this elite spot at the right time of the afternoon, you will be able to catch sight some dolphins swimming in the waterways!

Here you can sit back, enjoy a perfectly made drink, and enjoy the night! Music, drinks, cheap food, and views that cannot be beat! What could be better for an affordable family night out, in literal paradise?!
